Volunteer Day Honors Tree of Life Massacre Victims
On Sunday, October 23, 2022, the JCBA hosted, in collaboration with the 10.27 Healing Partnership, Repair the World, and the Simon Family, a cemetery cleanup in memory of Bernice and Sylvan Simon, z”l, and to honor those who died and were injured on October 27, 2018 in the Tree of Life Building massacre.
Dozens of volunteers met at Beth Abraham Cemetery in Carrick, PA to trim ivy off the monuments, sweep leaves from the lanes, remove dead bushes, and gather downed tree limbs.
A few moments of prayer and reflection were offered and stories were shared among the group in connection with the Jewish concept of “tikkun olam” which is repairing the world.
As always volunteers are welcomed to assist in our efforts to add further dignity to the cemeteries. Please contact us to discuss individual or group opportunities.
