As of 2020, Your Donations Have Allowed The JCBA To:

• Make significant wall repairs at Old Chesed Shel Emeth, Shaare Zedeck and Beth Abraham
• Restore the arch, gate, and pillars at Old Chesed Shel Emeth
• Remove dead trees at New and Old Chesed Shel Emeth, Workmen’s Circle #45 and #975, and at Anshe Lubovitz.
• Install new signage at JCBA cemeteries, and enhanced lighting
• Replace damaged fencing at Anshe Lubovitz, New Chesed, and both Workmen’s Circle cemeteries
• Install a 200 foot privacy fence at Beth Abraham beside the salvage area
• Correct drainage problems at Machsikei Hadas Cemetery in order to divert water away from gravesites
• Replace 265 square feet of concrete deck at Machsikei Hadas Cemetery that had severely deteriorated due to the water problem
• Restore the iron gate arches at Beth Abraham
• Restore and rededicate the Ohave Israel Cemetery in Brownsville
• Repair railings that had been significantly damaged at Beth Abraham Cemetery, and build new railings at Old Chesed Shel Emeth and at Old Kether Torah.
• Reset 175 monuments

Ongoing and Planned Projects in Need of Funding for 2023 and Beyond

• Phase III of our wall work at Beth Abraham
• Dead tree removals within Shaare Zedeck and Beth Abraham
• Workmen’s Circle #45 concrete bed top soil fills
• Kether Torah phase II of the removal of dead bushes
• Data migration fees for our cemetery software
• Annual maintenance expenses for the eleven cemeteries that have no funds

Unveiling Ceremonies

The JCBA is dedicated to serving the Jewish community’s truly needy by providing for their burial and final resting places in our Chesed Shel Emeth cemetery on Oakwood Street in Millvale. Our annual unveiling ceremony, cosponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Rabbinic Association, is held annually close to the High Holidays. The community is invited to attend. Volunteer Opportunities

The JCBA has many volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups who take pride in doing the ultimate Mitzva. If you are interested in volunteering on Mitzva Day, scheduling a specific day for your group or organization, interested in a community service or scout program or to attend our annual unveiling ceremonies please contact us.

Cemetery Membership and Partnership

The Jewish Cemetery and Burial Association of Greater Pittsburgh welcomes inquiries from Jewish cemeteries in Western Pennsylvania on memberships and partnerships.  JCBA is committed to the proper care and maintenance of sacred grounds, and is devoted to the stewardship of Jewish cemeteries, and Jewish sections within general cemeteries, throughout the region.  We endeavor to fulfill the commitments made to our past generations by planning for the future.
